Working On A Saturday

It's a working Saturday for me for the past few weeks or so (4 consecutive Saturdays to be exact, excluding the ones before the mid-year hols), I have to complain! Whatever happened to the 1st and 3rd Saturday being declared a holiday??

What do we normally do on these days?? Well, meetings, courses, sports practices, Open Day, Sports Day, Marathon Day, co-curricular meeting, oh you name it! Even though as teachers we only work half-day - as everyone always claims (not all the time though), it's still unfair for those who have families for their family time has been cut off on Saturday. Some teachers even bring their kids to work on that day just because their babysitters only take care of the children on weekdays! Plus, it's very hard for us to plan a weekend getaway or the like when something always gets in the way - which makes it really annoying!

I can't help but feel the current administration really needs to improve on their humanistic knowledge. We are not robots. We have feelings and we know how to feel tired. We want to have a normal weekend with our family, even though we're single or don't have kids. A fellow colleague once said: "Kita sibuk jaga anak orang, tapi anak sendiri tak terjaga!"

I was like.. "That is soooooo true!"

p/s: Luckily, there's no school activity whatsoever this Saturday. I'm going back to Hubby's hometown to eat durian.. Yahoooooo!
