Things That Get Me Upset

Saw this trending kat Twitter just now. Memang panjang berjela orang respond.. nak baca semua pun pening. In short, as human, we have expectations dan bila expectations tu tak di-meet (apa punya bahasa daa ni), it's in our nature to be upset.

Anyways, I get upset when:

1. Pagi-pagi stuck dalam jam then sampai office lambat. Walaupun aku dah cuba pegi seawal mungkin. Bagi alasan memang mudah, tapi rekod datang lambat tu??

2. Pelajar tak berusaha hard enough. Contohnya, latihan tanak buat, cakap tanak dengar. Takde cikgu yang nak anak murid dia gagal. Aku cukup kecewa kalau aku yang berusaha lebih tapi they all don't even wanna try.

3. Kena gesa buat sesuatu. Aku tau la keje aku, tak payah nak ask for updates every hour or so. Rasa tak kompeten lak dibuat camtu.

4. Kena marah/sound depan orang ramai. Dengan suara tinggi pulak tu. Hello, ingat aku ni robot takde perasaan kot? Kalau nak tegur pun, tegur la cara berhemah. It's not like I can't take criticisms.

5. Being ignored. Ni adalah mende paling senang buat aku upset. Attention seeker kah aku? Not per se. Tapi kalau dah dipedulikan walaupun in the same room, ataupun dibiarkan bila merajuk or marah, I think I have every right to be upset. Women love attention, enough said.

6. Finding out I have to be the one doing everything. Aku bukannya seorang pemalas but I believe many hands make light work. Come on lah, we're adults, we should know our own duties and responsibilities. We're not your slaves, mind you.

7. Orang guna then rosakkan my stuff, pastu takde effort nak minta maaf or offer nak ganti. Dah le pinjam kott. Kalau orang guna tanpa kebenaran pun menyakitkan hati gak. Tak bagi karang, kata kedekut. Huh, memang susah nak puaskan hati semua orang.

8. When we make all the efforts to make people feel appreciated, contohnya birthdays, dinner/movie treats, vacation,  wishes, texts, calls etc. tapi orang lain don't even care to do the same. Up to one point, aku pun dah macam give up nak plan itu ini sedangkan orang tak peduli pon. It's not like aku mintak, tapi reciprocate la. Treat people the way you want people to treat you.

9. Kita tegur cara baik tapi they just snap. Aku hangin betul orang buat camni. Ingat dia aje yang betul. Dah tu cara camne lagi nak tegur? Tegur cara kasar korang lagi tak suka kan? Not to mention, aku easily upset dengan orang yang all talk. Cakap pandai, tapi actions yillek.

10. It also upsets me kalau orang tak appreciate apa kita buat. Tak perlu la aku nak list down apa contribution aku and the like, cukup lah kalau orang tak asyik cari kesalahan aku. In short, aku buat baik tak nampak, aku buat silap nampak aje.

Ikutkan hati panjang lagi nak tulis tapi nanti orang kutuk lak 'tak bersyukur' blah blah blah.. Aku rasa it's good that I could list down those things coz that shows aku kenal diri aku, aku dapat identify benda yang buat aku tak happy and hopefully, dapat cari cara mengatasinya.

So, what are the things that make YOU upset?

Jatuh

Itu hari (last week to be exact) aku jatuh. Bukan jatuh cinta or jatuh sakit, tapi literally jatuh, jatuh gedebuk bak kata orang. Huhuhu.

Actually aku pun taktau camne leh jatuh waktu tu. Dah la jatuh dalam kelas! Yeah, you heard me right. I think waktu tu aku excited sangat kot dok buat penerangan sampai terlanggar meja, that I tripped and fell. Dah le pakai wedges 5 inci kot. Malu la jugak kan. Actually agak kelakar coz tetiba je berlaku, tapi aku terus sakit hati bila sekumpulan budak nakal dalam kelas tu ketawa. Sakit tau woii! Kena sound sedas baru senyap, tu pun dok struggle nak repress their laughter.

pic credit to this site

Kelakar sangat ke tengok orang jatuh?? Cuba kalau korang jatuh and orang lain ketawa, apa agaknya korang rasa ya? Pffftttt.

p/s: Paling embarrassing waktu jatuh kat travelator kat Tesco - kasut licin. Heyy what's up with me and falling?? =.="

Aidalicious, eh, ADELECIOUS

Malam ni memang dok layan Adele tak henti-henti especially bila jiwa kacau sebab suara minah ni memang berhantu dan meremangkan segala macam bulu kat badan. EH?

This is my lagu peberet from Adele sekarang selain Someone Like You, Rolling in the Deep, Rumor Has It etc.

But it's true. She's one of the most talented songstresses I've ever known. She sings really well as if she was born to do just that. Lirik-lirik dia sangat mendalam dan bermakna and somehow I think many people can relate to her songs (including moi), I think mostly because she penned most of her songs and sings from the heart. Her music's real and full of emotion, and I think we need more singers like her (totally not overrated right?) - tambah-tambah lagi kat Malaysia ni yang mana kebanyakannya gila glamour rather than nak ketengahkan bakat nyanyian tu. Btw, is there any chance that Adele might come to Malaysia anytime soon?? I'd love to go to her concert! Anyone wanna join? (iya-iya je kan)

A truly world class artist and performer.. She amazes me! Go on, listen to her, you know you want to.

p/s: Aidalicious is one of my many pseudonyms. Kononnya delicious la sangat kannnn. Heh.

p/p/s: Karok jom!

Azam... Apa Tu??

I mean, maybe some people would like to start afresh bila tahun baru. Nak cuba semula.

Whatever it is, for me, this year is all about making things happen. Apa aku nak buat, aku akan buat. Tahun lepas all my giant resolutions had gone up in smoke.. satu pun tak tercapai sebab banyak sangat kekangannya. So, in addition to the little things aku nak achieve/change this year, aku harap impian tahun lepas tu semuanya dapat dicapai, insyallah. Jeng.. jeng.. jeng.. apakah ia?? Cakap banyak pun tak guna..  kalau dah tercapai baru cakap kottt.. :)

Anyways, tahun ni aku nak jadi realistik. Taknak pasang impian setinggi langit. Instead, aku nak concentrate on benda-benda kecik that can help improve myself for the better, tak kiralah dari segi tugas sebagai seorang isteri, anak, kakak, kawan, pekerja, guru, Muslim dan lelain. Nak jadi lebih bertanggungjawab, matang, kurangkan procrastination (ehem) and be more organized. Selain tu, nak banyakkan exercise, eat healthily, travel more, blog more, keep in touch with as many friends/family members as possible and make learning English fun for my students. Err.. I'm not asking for much, am I?

p/s: Ape azam tahun baru korang? Hehehe.

Korang Ada??

Nak tau cara pintas dan pantas untuk menjadi terkenal locally and internationally?? Make a parody like this one right here and post it on YouTube!! :D

p/s: Apapun kudos to ini mamat sebab kreatif dan berani buat video ni! LOL

Free Gifts

Adakah korang jenis suka beli barang sebab ada free gifts? Contohnya beli ubat gigi dapat pinggan.. beli perfume dapat miniature perfume, beli mangkuk dapat hand towel.. well you get the idea.. Being a typical Malaysian, I do! I'm a sucker for free things!! (I mean, who doesn't?)

Well, alang-alang memang dok beli Cleo apa salahnya beli yang comes with a free gift kan? Lagipun yang original size tu takde.

Ada sekali tu kan siap beli magazine yang tak penah beli just because dapat Burt's Bees lip balm for free! I mean, sapa nak bagi kan?? Kurang kurang the readers dapat try new stuff and if they like it, boleh terus beli/pakai kan. To be frank, it's a good marketing strategy.. especially untuk peminat tegar free gifts macam yours truly! (ehemm)

Illegal Baby Names

Kebetulan aku memang nak kongsi satu artikel on illegal baby names in the world yang Hubby shared on his Facebook (entah mana dia jumpa). I find the article to be quite intriguing sebab tu tergerak hati nak share here.. I mean, since when certain baby names are declared illegal??

So, yeah, according to the article, "the following names have all been banned around the world for reasons of taste, decency or just plain daftness":
1) Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii (New Zealand)
New Zealand law bans names which could cause offence to a 'reasonable' person. Good thing too - the country is a stupid name hotspot. We found a couple from the islands who tried and failed to call their son '4Real', but nothing beats the ridiculous moniker above. It belonged to a 9-year-old girl before a judge had her renamed during a custody battle. 'It makes a fool of the child,' he said. It certainly made application forms a pain in the butt.
Has New Zealand banned any other names? Oh yes. The judge listed some that were also blocked: Fish and Chips (twins), Yeah Detroit, Keenan Got Lucy and Sex Fruit. Number 16 Bus Shelter and Violence were allowed.

2) Venerdi AKA 'Friday' (Italy)

Maybe this is what the Pope was talking about. Back in 2008 a court banned an Italian couple from calling their child Venerdi (translation: Friday). The judges reckoned the name - taken from 'Robinson Crusoe' - would expose the boy to 'mockery' and was associated with 'subservience and insecurity'. The parents, however, might have the last laugh; they threatened to call their next child Mercoledi (Wednesday).
Has Italy banned any other names? Italian courts can step in 'when the child's name is likely to limit social interaction and create insecurity'. In Turin, Andrea was rejected (and changed to Emma) as it's a boy's name in Italy. Dalmata has also been rejected, as it means Dalmatian.
3) Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116 (Sweden)
No, we didn't fall asleep on the keyboard. That is an actual name a Swedish couple tried to inflict on their son back in 1996. Apparently the name is pronounced 'Albin' (we're not sure how), and the parents chose it as a protest against Sweden's admittedly strict naming laws. Tax authorities must give their blessing to both first and surnames before they can be used.
Has Sweden banned any other names? Oh yes. Some favourites include Metallica, IKEA, Veranda and Q. Google was OK though.
4) Gesher AKA 'Bridge' (Norway)
Back in 1998 those nasty Norwegians threw a woman in jail (admittedly for only two days) when she failed to pay a fine for giving her son an 'unapproved' name. Eccentric Kristi Larsen said she was instructed in a dream to name her son Gesher (Hebrew for 'Bridge'), but the court were having none of it. Kristi did have 13 children already though, so maybe she had just run out of ideas.
Has Norway banned any other names? Undoubtedly, though in recent times they have replaced their list of officially sanctioned names with a general ban on monikers featuring swearing, sex and illnesses.
5) Chow Tow AKA 'Smelly Head' (Malaysia)
Unlike many countries which are gradually relaxing name laws, Malaysian authorities have cracked down on unsuitable titles in recent years. In 2006 government killjoys published a list of undesirable names that weren't in keeping with the religious traditions of the country – such as Cantonese moniker Chow Tow – which means 'Smelly Head'.
Has Malaysia banned any other names? Lots more Chinese efforts such as Ah Chwar ('Snake'), Khiow Khoo ('Hunchback'), Sor Chai ('Insane'). Malays should also steer clear of Woti, which means 'Sexual Intercourse'.
6) @ (China)
With more than a billion fellow countrymen, finding a unique name in China is difficult. Perhaps that's why one couple called their baby the '@' symbol – in Chinese characters it apparently looks a bit like 'love him'. Bless. Unsurprisingly, however, the authorities were less sentimental and publicised the moniker as an example of citizens bringing bizarre names into the Chinese language.
Has China banned any other names? The police have control over all names given to children because they issue identity cards, but details of rejections are not widely circulated.
7) Miatt (Germany)
Country living up to stereotype alert! Surprise, surprise the Germans are somewhat officious when it comes to baby naming laws. Regulation-loving Deutschland has an entire department (the Standesamt) which decides if names are suitable. Miatt was rejected because it didn't clearly show whether the child was a boy or a girl, but sometimes the decisions are somewhat arbitrary...
Has Germany banned any other names? The likes of Stompie, Woodstock and Grammophon were turned down, whereas the similarly strange Speedy, Lafayette and Jazz were allowed.

8) Anus (Denmark)

What is it about Scandinavian countries and name laws? The Danes are even tougher than the Swedes in this regard, with parents given 7,000-odd names to choose from by the government. Special permission is needed to deviate from the list, with ethnic names, odd spellings and even compound surnames forbidden. Luckily for him (we assume it's a 'he'), Anus was one of 250-odd names rejected each year.
Has Denmark banned any other names? Well, Pluto and Monkey had lucky escapes...

9) Ovnis (Portugal)

Before naming your child in Portugal, best consult this mammoth, 80-page government doc (and have it translated to English) that tells you which names you can and can't use. It's pretty strict (and random) – Tomás is OK but Tom isn't – and celebs can forget about the likes of Apple and Brooklyn, which aren't even on the banned list. Essex girls rejoice, however – Mercedes is allowed!
Has Portugal banned any other names? There are more than 2,000 names on the reject list, including Ovnis - Portuguese for UFO.
10) Akuma AKA Devil (Japan)
Here's a name the Pope definitely wouldn't approve of. In 1993 a Japanese parent called his son Akuma (which literally means Devil). The authorities decided this was an abuse of the parent's rights to decide a child's name and a lengthy court battle ensued. Eventually the father backed down and junior got a new, less demonic name.
Has Japan banned any other names? Lots. Names must use one of the 2,232 'name kanji' characters decided by the government.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So what's the moral of the story?? In fact, Rasulullah ada bersabda:

Kamu akan di seru Hari Qiamat dengan nama-nama kamu dan nama bapa kamu, maka perelokkanlah nama kamu.

Plus, kita pun tak mau anak-anak kita menjadi mangsa ejekan dek nama yang terlalu pelik or mempunyai maksud yang buruk, kan? I mean, anak nama "Anus"? OMG, you gotta be kidding me, right??) Next, bayangkan budak Sweden yang nama "Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116" tu.. Nak sebut nama sendiri pun susah sampai terbelit lidah woi! Nak eja apatah lagi tsk tsk.. Kesian ok. Sila jangan buli anak anda.. sekian.

p/s: Maksud nama aku 'cahaya ketenangan hayat'.. What's my real name? *sila teka di dalam hati saja* :P
