Bits and Bobs

There is not much to report.

Well, yeah, there are ongoing frustrations with some things that need doing and some people that need to be dealt with on daily basis. I used to grouse and rant about it, but now I just don't see the sense in it anymore. Needless to say, they're here to stay.. but they're not worth the aggro anyway, so, it's either you take it or leave it, your choice.

Despondency notwithstanding, I feel sooo relieved that I'm able to finish up all my pending work - updating the ULBS files, the PLBS files, lesson plans and reflections, writing up reports, preparing test and exam papers and whatnot (too bad more is coming my way very soon!). In fact, today my KP (that is Ketua Panitia for you) came into my class to observe me teaching as part of the evaluation and gave me some positive feedback (I'm now in my third year of teaching but, yes, I still get the jitters if people are to observe me! Tee-hee). Even the kids were behaving themselves and responding enthusiastically to the lesson. Ecstatic? You bet I am! :)

On another note, this is to inform everyone that my mobile phone yang tak berapa nak canggih tu  is spoiled for good! I haven't the foggiest idea what exactly went wrong - all I know is that all of a sudden the touchscreen was on the blink and became 'untouchable' for the past one week or so. Hmmpphh. So, for the time being (that is, till I get ahold of a new one), don't call or text me as I won't be able to answer or reply any :(

But I'm still contactable via email, Twitter and Facebook though.. So, you know what you have to do if you have a pressing matter that can't wait.

Till then.

No matter how grouchy you're feeling, keep smiling -
it's a curve that sets everything straight! :)

A lot of things are due next week and here I am being lazy to even start on anything! I just hope I can lie down and relax, and forget about everything else. There's no way that's possible though, yeah I know, reality sucks! Anyway, keying in marks and updating files and documentation take up most of my time lately (dah rasa macam kerani pun ada!), and not to mention, the various programmes organized by school too. Of course I'm stressed out with the overwhelming workload, are you kidding me??

I desperately need to stop dillydallying from now onwards - time's ticking out! So.. err.. where should I start?

Salmon Galore

Edo Ichi is having a special Salmon promotion this month and I simply don't wanna miss out on the fantastic bargain! So I asked my favourite girls to try it out last week and it was marvellous! For just RM28, we got to eat a scrummy, sumptuous, satisfying platter filled with salmon, salmon and nothing else but salmon! In other words, makanlah salmon sampai muntah!! Ha-ha.

Clockwise: Salmon sashimi, roe, sushi, flavoured and maki.

Love the rich orange hue of a salmon.. gorgeous!

Lam jie :)
Muka-muka gembira dapat feast on salmon hehe

So my question is:
What's your favourite sushi?
(Mine? Isn't it obvious enough?? lol)

p/s: I wish I had my DSLR with me.. yukk >.<
p/p/s: Isabelle, sila jangan jealous okay! :p

The Big P

Yes, it's that time of the month again. What a relief! Why is that so? Actually, these few months my menses have been rather irregular or none at all, and it truly scares the living shit out of me - if you know what I mean! It's back and I feel much better now! That comes at a price, however. It's not all fun and games. Abdominal cramps, moodiness, irritability, bloating, backache, ludicrous cravings, constipation, pimples... ahhh you name it!

But still I'm glad :)

What's in Your Handbag?

Faezah tagged me in one of her posts not long ago about things we put in our handbag so here goes..

  1. Wallet - This is the heart and soul of my bag.. if I leave this at home then there's no point in carrying the handbag in the first place!
  2. Mobile phone - This has to be the one thing I cannot leave home without!
  3. iPod - My source of entertainment! You never know when you ever need a good distraction from the world outside!
  4. PSP - Yessss! And I'm not ashamed to admit it.. I'm a game freak! There, I've said it. Tee-hee. What I like the most about PSP is that it's a sleek all-in-one console! You get to play games, watch movies, listen to music, view pictures and even go online! Cool eh? But it's a bit bulky, so I don't have this in the bag all the time.
  5. Tissue - It's a must to carry this everywhere I go - and it's good coz it keeps you clean at all times. You never know when you'll need one, so keep it handy.
  6. Lipgloss - No one wants to end up with dry, chapped lips.. Ladies have to keep their lips moisturised at all times, haven't we? It makes our lips look juicy and kissable too ;)
  7. Centrum Multivitamin - I always carry multivitamins with me! Living a hectic life, sometimes we don't get the right amount of vits from our food. This is just a convenient way to get the daily doses of important ones.
  8. Pen - I prefer to use my own pen to write.. After all, bukan cikgu la kalau tak bawak pen! ;)
  9. Keys - Car keys, house keys, locker keys.. isyyy penting tu!
These are the list of things you can find in my handbag.. I'd like to know yours too.. SO I'm gonna tag:
Unveil the contents of your handbag, ladies =)

p/s: I'm a gadget freak, yes I'm aware of that - next time around nak cari netbook pulak letak dalam handbag ni kalau muat! :p

Thumping in My Head

Gambar cilok!

I've been experiencing constant headaches almost everyday for the past few weeks. Usually it comes with the pounding sensation from within on both sides of the head and the back of the neck, which eventually leads to dizziness and nausea. What a pain!

I'm sure most people have a headache at some point in their life. Some are mild while some are severe. The most common type of headaches among adults is tension headaches, caused by inadequate rest and lack of sleep, poor posture, emotional or mental stress (mau tak stress menghadap kerenah budak-budak on daily basis, silap-silap boleh HBP!), anxiety, fatigue, hunger and overexertion. In addition, dehydration, eye strain or abuse of cigarettes, alcohol and caffeine also contribute to tension headaches.

The easiest way to get rid of this temporary annoyance is with the help of pain relievers. If it gets worse, see the doctor immediately. Don't suffer in silence! However, we can't depend on medication forever as sooner or later it's gonna take a toll on our health. So how can we ward off tension headaches without medication? According to an article on headaches and migraines, we can do so in three simple steps - watch what we eat, reduce the stress (relax, breathe and exercise) and medicate. But of course, that's easier said than done!

p/s: Frankly speaking, I'd do anything for this to go away. Any suggestion will be duly appreciated! :)

Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Thank you Eclipse for uplifting my dampened mood and spirit! These few weeks my mood seems to change a lot due to some invidious events/issues that make me feel sad, depressed and unhappy. It's like a really bad joke has been played on me.. Am I supposed to laugh at some point? Everything seems to be ticking me off lately.. everything seems to be going wrong and I've no idea why! What I know is that after last week I'm feeling so much better - all thanks to my favourite trio - debonair and romantic Edward, fickle and indecisive Bella and dashing, well-built Jacob!

In my opinion, Eclipse is a nice mix of romance, action and drama. It's definitely the best by far, I mean, not as good as Twilight but not as bad as New Moon. Since I read the book of course there are some things I'd prefer to be made differently but suffice to say, generally I really enjoyed the movie. I just couldn't stop 'ooh-ing' and 'awww-ing' throughout the movie (y'know what I'm talking about, Huda! hehe). It is indeed one beautiful, unusual love story. And not to mention, Eclipse was a total drool fest! There are Edward, Jacob, Riley, Emmet, Jasper blah blah blah.. :p

The story begins with Edward and Bella discussing about his marriage proposal, one of his conditions if Bella wishes to be changed into a vampire. She totally freaks out over the idea - not because she doesn't wanna be with him, but because it sounds so antediluvian and that she's not ready yet.. I mean, she's only 17 (unlike ageless Edward)! Meanwhile, Victoria (the antagonist from the first book/movie) has planned vengeance, manipulating newborn vampires led by Riley. In order to protect Bella, the Cullen family must band together with the wolf pack, which also means that Edward and Jacob have to put aside their rivalry. This story also gives us some insights into Jasper and Rosalie's previous lives and the Quillete/wolf origins. I totally love the scenes with the Cullen's training and then the battle at the end with the newborns. It's definitely one of the highlights in this movie. Apart from that, I'd like to see the movie end as the book did.. with Jacob running off after receiving the wedding invitation, it's just too bad it's not happening. Plus, the dialogues, oh someone please do something about the cheesy, uninspired lines!

Can't wait for the final installment of the story, Breaking Dawn - I heard that it will be split into 2 movies. Tsk. I'm not even sure whether that is a good thing or a bad thing. Well, we just have to wait and see.

p/s: I'm Team Edward! You? (yeah, yeah, I know, aku ni memang a hopeless, incurable romantic ha-ha)

Play, Touch, Admire

Introducing my phone...

... Nokia 5530 XpressMusic!

What I like most about this phone is its slim form, cool and sleek design, light weight, superb audio, and clear 2.9 inch widescreen display. Features yang lain tu lebih kurang la - camera, calendar, alarm, music player, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi & EDGE connectivity blah blah blah.. (yep, no 3G, but it still works fine). The touchscreen works wonderfully, and fast too - you can choose between the common alphanumeric keypad, full screen QWERTY or even handwriting! It comes with a stylus as an alternative to finger touch, and its memory is up to 16GB.

However, if there are two bad things I can say about this baby, it has to be its poor picture quality - refer to   the pictures of my Labuan/Brunei trip (compared to my previous Sony E. phone.. Hello? Sony E. camera phones!) and its web browser's small default font size, which is really bad for reading and browsing. Apart from that, this functional smartphone serves its purpose very well and I think it's fair to say that it just seems like a perfect phone, well, for me, at least.. untillllllllllllllll...

... it got submerged in 100 Plus last hols! Yessss, 100 Plus! (that would be me, tsk!) Can you imagine? Since then, it has been on the blink. *sobs*

I love my phone but it just has to go.. I mean, what's the point of having a touch-screen phone when you can't even touch the screen (due to a malfunction), right?? It's time to get a new one! *grins*

Any idea what mobile phone should I buy next?

What's Wrong With You??

I don't know what in the world is wrong with her. The other day, she approached me and asked me to help out with this one class she couldn't attend saying "Let's help each other okay" with a smirk and I was like, what?? Is she trying to imply that all this while I never help out with anything at all? Like, seriously! I don't even know where she got the idea in the first place. I mean, if you want me to help around with anything, just let me know nicely, okay. If I could then I would.

And there was this one time when she asked for a report in which I don't know I've to prepare. And she was like, 'I'd already told you the other day' and 'I need it urgently' as if it was my mistake not preparing any. I blame the confusion on miscommunication between us. She thought she had told me about it but as far as I'm concerned, she did not. I did it (without much fuss) and when I gave it to her, she refused to accept it because there was something wrong with the ink on the printouts and asked me to reprint. Okay, fine. But there was simply no need to put on the straight face and cynical tone. I'm not a kid anymore, mind you.

p/s: An ex-colleague yang aku memang tak suka dari dulu told my other colleague: "I'm 5 weeks pregnant.. tolong sebar-sebarkan ye" WTF?? Motive?? Kenapa la semua orang, dari fellow colleagues ke students, buat aku hangin je hari ni??!!!

Keep Your Gob Shut

Not only walls have ears, they now have eyes and mouth too. Everywhere we go, there will always be people who are trying to hear what we're saying, although they're not part of your conversation, or those who have 'remarkable' powers of observation - who are good at noticing things like your clothes, shoes, bags, makeups etc. etc. The next thing you know, rumours and stories about you are circulated or spread around at the speed of light.  Who is to be blamed? Seriously.

Sometimes I feel some social signifiers like "what are you doing?", "how are you doing?" or "that's a new dress, isn't it?" mean nothing. Some people say things just to impress or dig up dirt on you. At first we might think they are actually friendly and that they really care, but I've come to the conclusion that they just don't! This got me thinking about meaning, what do people really mean when they speak? Do you really mean what you say? Ke depan lain, belakang lain? But then, if you didn't mean it, then why did you say it?  People say things they don't mean all the time without thinking that there might be consequences. Maybe that's why kerana mulut badan binasa.

Maybe we should all start to check our own language and meaning. I mean, how many fights start because you said something without meaning it? How many relationships have been ruined due to a big mouth? It all goes back to thinking before you speak. It's good to be honest, but the sensitivity of the people around us is important too. So before you open your mouth and start spreading untruths about people's private lives or gossiping about what I do or wear, take a minute to decide if it's worth it!

Cold Remedy

What wet and gloomy weather we're having! It's no surprise that eventually everyone is catching a cold, no matter how much you clean, including me *sniffle* Yes, it'll start with a sniffle, and slowly progress to sore throat, headache, fever, sneezing and chills. Sound familiar? But as the cold is caused by a virus, there's no cure - it may take a week or two for it to leave our system. Wondering how to treat cold and cough without using medicines? Easy-peasy. A cup of lemon juice mixed with warm water and a splash of honey will do the trick. Sucking on lozenges and drinking plenty of water would also work effectively.

So whenever you have cold symptoms, drink the mixture right away like I do. It'll not cure the cold straight away, but the lemon juice's high content of vitamin C which boosts the immune system will definitely shorten its duration. Tuhan pun tak boleh tolong kalau kita tak berusaha kan? Give it a try! ;)

I Wonder How, I Wonder Why

I always wonder what the world will be like in 20 years.. The trends, the cultures.. everything. I wonder how everyone will dress, what type of music will be popular, what type of country leaders will we have, what the education system will be like, yadda yadda yadda. Some of the things people created so far are amazing. By that time, we'll probably have different looking houses, cars, laptops, buildings and cellphones. Computers will be everywhere, that's for sure. We might even have cure for terminal diseases. Also, the world would probably be a mess since we're killing our planet, so maybe we'll just stick to minimalist clothings instead? Or will the fashion be crazier than it already does? What do you think?

And have you ever wondered what your life will be like in 20 years?

I'd be 45 going on 46.. Ahhhhh.. hopefully still alive, with hubby, three kids and a Master's degree (PhD?) in tow. Eventually I guess I'll be settling down in KL. Probably lecturing or travelling the world. But that just seems like so long away. Actually I don't even wanna think that far into the future. All these uncertainties are worrying, y'know. But at least I know how I will look like in 20 years! :p

See what you will look like in 20 years here =)

July Baby

According to Emerson, it is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them. Let's be stupid today. Happy birthday, my friend! I can't imagine celebrating with anyone else.

Two cakes? You're so loved, babe!
The celebration in school

Just now we went to New City Restaurant to celebrate the birthday girl.. err.. lady :p

Lam had chicken burger..
.. while I opted for prawn spaghetti

And next, we went off to have coffee at Ice Cafe, a new cafe, where we met our ex-student, Lisa (you know who you are! lol). Btw, the coffee, it was okay, but it wasn't that great. Oh, how I miss San Francisco Coffee and/or Starbucks!

We both had iced mocha, but it was so un-mocha-ish!

She looked exhausted and sleepy and so I asked,

"Do you want something or not?"
"Huh? What do you mean? "
"Just tell me if you want this thing I'd bought you.."
"Wanttt!" *giggle*

I took out her birthday present from my handbag. For a moment, she looked as if she could doze off any moment and next, she was all excited. The trick worked. Heh.

Guess what's inside the paper bag?
A Body Shop Aqua Lily perfume! Hope you'll like it.. It's soo you! :p

So live well, love much, and laugh often! After all, age is a matter of feeling, not of years! *winks*

Happy birthday!

Welcome July!

I anticipate a very hectic month ahead. In addition to our excessive workloads on weekdays, now every Saturday is a working day - camps, courses, meetings, replacement classes, dinners, oh you name it. I couldn't even find a free weekend in which I can go back to see Hubby (yes, sometimes I go back on weekends)! Since the school reopened, I hardly sleep after midnight like I usually do, even on weekends. That's how tired and knackered I am these few weeks. And yes, things can be a little bit overwhelming at times. The co-curricular activities have started again. So do the extra/remedial classes, and not to mention the monthly tests and EXCEL 2 exam too.. imagine going through one hell of a time marking stacks and stacks of exam papers. Ughh, I don't even wanna think about it. As the big exams - PMR and SPM are approaching, all the syllabuses must be completed in less than three months and after that it's gonna be revision and more revision. Less than three months?! You gotta be kidding me, right?

With a lot of things happening around me, luckily I'm still aware that these are all tests to make me a better person. In every difficulty lies an opportunity and in every problem there are always solutions and lessons to be learnt. All these events should really be good appetite suppressant you would think right? But no... I'm eating more.. I think it's all the stress!

p/s: Happy birthday to my BFF, Lam! Many happy returns, buddy! xoxo
